Who We Are

Founded in 2012, Great Rhythm Brewing Company specializes in producing flavorfully hoppy beer. In August of 2016 the company opened the doors to its new state-of-the-art brewing facility and open concept tasting room, located on the picturesque North Mill Pond in downtown Portsmouth, NH.

Where You Come In

Great Rhythm Brewing Company is growing and we’re looking to expand our Taproom team with motivated, energetic, music-loving, craft beer-drinking individuals! 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help create a highly enjoyable experience for our guests  
  • Educate guests on Great Rhythm, our beers, and all that we are about
  • Keep workspaces behind the bar and on the Taproom floor clean; keeping bathrooms clean
  • Greet all guests within 5 feet with a smile
  • Respond promptly to requests from customers in a polite and professional fashion
  • Ensure clean glasses, bar equipment, and working areas
  • Comply with all health, safety, and hygiene standards and policies
  • Monitor inventory throughout shift
  • Restock coolers with cans and kegs, making sure to rotate inventory on a first in first out basis
  • Restock retail inventory as needed
  • Check glass washers for proper chemical mixture and volume
  • Maintain soap and towels at all hand sinks
  • Collect trash from all barrels throughout shift, as well as wiping down walls behind trash containers
  • Distribute clean bar towels; collect soiled ones and discard them in the appropriate place
  • Promptly and professionally handle guest issues, and communicate problems and concerns to management
  • Thank guests; offer a warm farewell, and invite them back upon departure
  • Attend and satisfactorily complete all required training as assigned and required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • TIPS and/or Serve Safe certified
  • Crowd manager certified
  • Brewery experience a plus
  • Prior experience serving the public a plus
  • Prior experience in fast paced hospitality a plus

Skills:

  • Effective communication skills
  • Efficient decision-making in occasionally stressful situations
  • Awareness of signs of intoxication of guests and other concerning factors
  • Ability to make calculations and figure out change quickly
  • A good memory to recall regular guests, remember drink orders from large groups, etc.

General Job Requirements;

  • Must be 21+
  • Weekends and nighttime availability required
  • Scheduling flexibility required

Physical Requirements:

The work for this position is performed in a brewery environment, and requires occasional trips to the warehouse and production floor of the facility. The production aspects of this job take place in a working brewery environment, which involves the following:

  • Hot, cold, steamy, foggy, wet conditions
  • Noise (up to 90 dB)
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals, hot water, cold water, hazardous gases, and pressurized vessels
  • Exposure to machinery with moving parts
  • Wet floors
  • Occasional entry into confined spaces
  • Sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing
  • Seeking, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling
  • Lifting up-to 55 pounds and moving up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop and wipe
  • Remain stationary for extended periods of time
